Don C. Johnson, CLI, CII has over 25 years experience as a professional investigator. He is the founder and owner of Trace Investigations, Inc. in Bloomington, Indiana, a private firm serving south central Indiana's business and legal community since 1990.
Johnson has received a number of professional awards in his career. In 1997, he received an Editor-Publisher Award from the Indiana Society of Professional Investigators for his work on the association’s newsletter, The Indiana Investigator. The society named him its Investigator of the Year in 2000. In 1998, the National Association of Legal Investigators awarded Johnson its first-place Editor-Publisher Award for his article entitled "Suicide Investigations," which appeared in NALI’s journal, The Legal Investigator. In 2003, Mr. Johnson was awarded NCISS’ prestigious Wayne Wunder Memorial Award for distinguished service to the investigation and security professions. In 2009, he received an Excellence Award from NCISS for his many years of service as editor of their journal, The NCISS Report.
A well known association delegate, writer and lecturer, Mr. Johnson is a member of a number of professional organizations. He is the former editor of PI Magazine and a contributing author to three books published by Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company, Corporate Investigations, Advanced Forensic Civil Investigations and Advanced Forensic Criminal Defense Investigations.
Johnson serves as a regional director of the National Association of Legal Investigators. He also serves on the board of directors of the International Intelligence Network (Intellenet), a private professional organization of investigators and security consultants, comprised of former members of numerous international, national, state and local law enforcement agencies, military intelligence and investigative agencies, and private sector specialists.
In 2001, Don C. Johnson was appointed by the governor of Indiana to the Private Detective Licensing Board (known now as the Private Investigator and Security Guard Licensing Board), a division of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency in Indianapolis. Johnson was elected president of the licensing board in January 2004 and continues to serve in that position. He is a former intelligence analyst with the U.S. Air Force Security Service, now known as the Air Intelligence Agency.
Johnson is a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. |
